To Create an Engineering Work Package (EWP)

An engineering work package is an engineering deliverable that is used to develop Construction Work Packages. An EWP defines the scope of work to support construction in the form of drawings, procurement deliverables, and specifications.

To view all the engineering work packages in the project, from the Engineering panel, select Engineering work packages. In the Engineering work packages window, you can delete packages or create new ones.

  1. From the Engineering panel, select Create engineering work packages. The Define the new work package window opens. In this window, fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
  2. From the project drop down, select the project to which you want to add the work package.
  3. In the Title field, give the new EWP a name. The Package type is already selected and is unchangeable.
  4. From the Status field, select the status. Status choices are Not IFC, IFC with holds, and IFC.
  5. From the Discipline drop down, select a discipline for the new EWP. Choices are Cable, Cable Trays, Concrete, Electrical, Equipment, Instrumentation, Multi-Discipline, Pipe, and Steel.
  6. From the Data Provider drop down, select the appropriate provider.
  7. From the calendar popup, if necessary, change the Date received. By default, the current date displays in the field.
  8. In the Description text box, you can add a description of the work package. This description will be appended to the title of the work package.
  9. In the Notes text box, add any additional information you want to include about the EWP.
  10. Select the Schedule tab.
  11. From the calendar popup, select the planned start and finish dates and actual start and finish dates.
  12. Select Save and next. A window opens with the work package title and description. Here you can see general information about the work package and import data into the work package.
